The award-winning poignant and moving story of Washington-born star Eva Cassidy, with the West End and Hollyoaks star Sarah Jane Buckley in the starring role, is at Swansea Grand Theatre on Tuesday 31st January at 7.30pm.
At the time of Eva’s death, she was unknown outside Washington, but within four years, Terry Wogan discovered and promoted her haunting interpretation of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ and it rocketed to the top of the chart.
This compelling musical tells the tale of Eva’s life, from her idyllic childhood growing up in a musical family, her studio work with boyfriend and mentor Chris Biondo, the exuberant live recording of Blues Alley and finally to her tragically premature death at the age of 33 years.
This sad, but uplifting love story of a wonderfully talented and spiritual song stylist stars Rob McVeigh (BBC’s Any Dream Will do finalist) as Danny Cassidy and Pauline Fleming (Coronation Street, Brookside) as Barbara Cassidy, and features over twenty-seven of her best-loved songs, created by a multi-talented cast of West End performers.
Tickets for this exceptional evening of entertainment are available from Swansea Grand Theatre on 01792 475715 or can be reserved online at www.swanseagrand.co.uk and are £10.00 - £16.50 with selected concessions available.
