In the early 1500's as chainmail was losing it's favour because of the invention of the musket Hatton Garden, named after Sir Christopher Hatton, was springing up as one of the really prosperous areas of the London and in 1583 could boast the largest house in England with Holdenby Palace.

Hatton Garden is now the jewellery quarter of London and "Chainmaille" is again popular as Welsh artist and jeweller Elaine J Hillson has her "Chainmaille" Jewellery is now stocked in Premier Jewellers in Hatton Garden.

Elaine makes jewellery and sculpture out of wire, fibres, reclaimed antiques and felted creations using the metals Sterling silver gold and copper.
