Ten chefs were due to fly out to Singapore last Thursday to compete for the first time in the FHA Culinary Challenge, which begins on today (20th April). But team manager Graham Tinsley was forced to call a halt at the weekend when Emirates Airline told him the earliest possible flight from Manchester was on Thursday or Friday this week.
Instead of preparing for the competing in the humid conditions of Singapore, the dejected chefs are grounded in Wales after months of planning and perfecting dishes for the event, which is recognised as Asia's premier culinary contest.

The Crustastun was very easy and straightforward to set up and within a few minutes Gareth and Mary were able to operate it themselves. This is a major investment for our small self funded business and we have always worked to the highest standards and, along with Sion, the secretary of the Llyn Pot Fishermen's Association, are working towards a more sustainable fishery off the Llyn Peninsula.

The main beneficiaries of the project will be dairy farmers who will benefit from advice, support and information on issues ranging from energy efficiency to maximising production efficiency and profits.
The project, funded by the Supply Chain Efficiencies scheme (SCE) through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013, will be delivered by two project partners in Coleg Sir Gâr and DairyCo and is a major step forward in the provision of information and support for Welsh dairy farmers.

Glasfryn Parc will once again be hosting Farmer's Markets and is looking forward to welcoming back a wide selection of local producers to the monthly markets. These will take place on the first Saturday of each month. The first one will take place at Glasfryn on Saturday 3rd April from 10am - 4pm.
This is a great opportunity for Glasfryn Parc to stay close to their core principles of supporting local suppliers and producers and providing visitors to Glasfryn Parc with another attraction.
Over twenty local producers will be selling a wide range of fresh products including farm-raised meat; lobsters caught on the shores of Anglesey; handmade chutneys, preserves, cheese and ice-cream; and freshly baked bread.
There will also be a selection of craft stalls including handmade soap, slate crafts, iron work and local ceramic and pottery. A full list of producers can be found on www.glasfryn.co.uk.
There's plenty of FREE parking at Glasfryn Parc. As well as all the activities on offer at the Parc (karting, quad bikes, archery and soft play) there is also an on-site cafe, a separate dining room and toilet facilities (including baby changing and toilets for the disabled).
A visit to the Farmer's Market on Easter Saturday will be a great family day out.
