Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards 2011 Silver Award Winner for - "Best Serviced Accommodation" & "Finest Pembrokeshire Breakfast"

A new cultivar, exclusive to Welsh Fruit Stocks, originating from a cross between a redcurrant, a gooseberry, and a Jostaberry (itself a cross between a blackcurrant and a gooseberry).  “Results so far have been impressive, with large yields of fruit produced from year one. We see great potential in this new bush, with a berry slightly larger than a blackcurrant producing a lovely sweet and distinct flavour, especially in jam” says Jess.

The breeder, Chas Welch, says "This Chuckleberry is the very best plant in all my creations; it is sweet, very juicy and full of the flavours of its three parents. It performs through any weather, gives an abundance of fruit very easily picked, even by machinery. Its jams, ice creams, juices are wonderful on the palette. When cooked it is almost seedless, an asset in any cooking."
