Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority is urging walkers and visitors to take extra care on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and is warning people not to use the Path in periods of extreme weather.

The public are also being advised to exercise caution near cliffs and especially around beaches as the heavy rain and pounding waves increase the risk of cliff falls.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path has been diverted at Blackpoint, north of Broad Haven.

National Park Authority Director of Delivery and Discovery James Parkin said: “The recent storms have led to an increase in rainwater finding its way through soil and rocks, which in turn increases the risk of cliff falls and slumps on the Coast Path. People should always be wary of walking or sitting on or under cliffs that may be unstable.

“The Authority has already identified two problem areas on the Coast Path near Broad Haven (North) and Ceibwr. Thanks to information from members of the public and with the kind permission of land owners, Authority staff have created diversions and kept path closures to a minimum.”

‘I’m so pleased that we are working with Cadw again,’ said Julia Horton-Powdrill the Festival founder and organiser. ‘In 2013 the Really Wild Festival was judged the Best Day Out/Visitor Experience in Pembrokeshire and it promises to be as spectacular as last year with new fun attractions and old favourites. There will be over 70 stalls show-casing and selling their products.’

‘All our food and drink exhibitors will be from within Wales.’ said Julia ‘There is such a wonderful variety of top quality produce in the Principality. Why would we look further afield?’

A fantastic choice of hands-on workshops will be available especially for over 60’s and under 10’s. There will be plenty more to entertain and occupy every member of the family.
