The Fron Choir have received their second platinum album after sales of their second album, Voices of the Valley: Encore, exceeded 30,000 since its release in November last year.
In total, the 70 strong Fron Male Voice Choir and their conductress Ann Atkinson have sold over 1 million albums since the launch of their first CD Voices of the Valley in November 2006. The second album on the Universal label has also been nominated for the Classical Brit Album of the Year.
Music svengali Daniel Glatman, who has managed the choir since coming across them at a local wedding in 2005, said: "This incredible story continues. I’m absolutely delighted for the choir – it is well deserved, and yet another testament to the ongoing popularity of the choir’s music and that unique Welsh male voice choir sound.”
The Fron Choir, who have just commenced their second UK tour, were presented with the Platinum disc on Sunday 6 April during their concert at St David’s Hall, Cardiff by BBC presenter Roy Noble.
The Fron Choir are currently on tour across the UK with dates in Birmingham, Manchester, London and Glasgow amongst many. Dates in Wales include 6 April at St David’s Hall Cardiff and 29 April at Rhyl Pavilion. Further tour details are available on www.fronchoir.com .
In May this year, the choir will be returning to the recording studio to record their third album.
