Joanna Chung, owner of Pwllheli’s Chung’s Take Away is doing her bit to reduce the use of plastic bags in Wales. If you visit her shop, you’ll come away with a bright red recycled bag, made of strong, woven recycled paper. You can even wash it and use it over and over again!

Joanna Chung said: “I am very aware of the importance of protecting the natural environment. Black Environment Network, a voluntary organisation, has been working with the Chinese community in this area, helping us become more aware of opportunities to enjoy and the importance of caring for the natural environment around us in North Wales.”

“I’m pleased to play my part in the campaign to make Wales a more environmentally-friendly country.” 

Judy Ling Wong, Director of Black Environment Network said: “Our projects, supported by a grant from the Countryside Council for Wales, aim to connect ethnic minority people with the natural environment and inspire them to protect what they feel part of.

“As more ethnic minorities get better opportunities to enjoy the natural environment, we look forward to their increasing contribution to protecting our natural heritage. And Joanna’s decision to ditch plastic bags is just one example of a small step we can all take in our everyday lives.”
