The Imperial, Llandudno

ImageIt's a couple of years since I first visited The Imperial for a conference, followed by a mid-week break some months later when the hotel was undergoing a massive refurbishment. So as I love this area and had a few days free, I decided to head north once again to view the changes. The Victorian building looked just as majestic with its superb situation right on the seafront boasting spectacular views over Llandudno Bay.

The Rooms:
There are 98 en suite rooms here and I loved my room which was beautifully furnished and looked over the Bay. All rooms have everything you'll need for a comfortable stay, including satellite television, direct dial telephone, bathrobe, hairdryer and hospitality tray. Disabled facilities are also offered.

The Restaurant:
Chantrey's Restaurant continued the elegant feel that ran throughout the hotel. It was easy to see why they have won so many awards, with their Head Chef making use of locally sourced products wherever possible. An extensive wine list did not disappoint and gave my partner and I a dinner to remember. Breakfast was just as good and I was delighted to hear staff ask us if we wanted a Welsh breakfast; despite eating so much the evening before our early morning walk ensured that we did justice to it! Lunches and light refreshments are served throughout the day on the delightful Terrace which overlooks the Promenade. The Imperial is ideal for a private party too, whether it is a small family occasion or a corporate event.

Leisure Facilities:
Mint Condition is the health and leisure centre within the hotel and how we enjoyed our relaxing swim, but ignored the two gyms equipped with an extensive range of cardiovascular and weight training equipment in favour of a pamper session! The sauna, steam room, vertical sun shower and spa pool were just what we needed. There's also a holistic therapist with a choice of complementary treatments, but sadly we ran out of time.

What's of interest nearby?
This is a perfect place to discover North Wales and Snowdonia. We went to Caernarfon and Bodelwyddan castles, we took a trip up the Great Orme on the famous Tramway, and we also fitted in trips to Beaumaris and Betws-y-Coed. Being only 5 minutes from the town centre we managed to do some shopping too!

Why visit?
Quite simply, you'll be missing such a treat if you don't! It's not only me that has been impressed with the new look at The Imperial, as it has recently been upgraded to Four Star status by Visit Wales and the AA which is proof indeed of the excellent quality and range of facilities and services available. The are now Llandudno's largest quality Four Star hotel in the heart of the resort with a health and fitness centre. An important fact I have neglected to mention is the wonderful staff who combined professionalism and friendliness, which not only resulted in a wonderful break, but ensures we'll return.

Children:
Are welcomed.

And the B&B cost?
Twin room for single occupancy at £90 and double room at £110 double per night. Executive and front facing rooms available at a supplement. Banish your winter blues and take advantage of some great special breaks.
