Time was when the word ‘reservoir' was a dirty word in
Wales.
It usually meant that a Welsh close knit
community was to be destroyed in order to construct the reservoir. One only has
to travel along the road from Aberystwyth to Aberaeron to be reminded of what
happened when Llyn Tryweryn was built. Yes, the construction of some reservoirs
within Wales
led to considerable objections. As was said on one occasion: "There it stands -
a monument to man, holding back the tears of God." Most reservoirs in Wales have been accepted by now and from
an angling point of view some of them have developed into excellent fisheries
and are an asset to the countryside.
