Home Compost - worth the work or waste of time?

We've all heard of composting and some of us have compost heaps working away in our gardens. Others, however, haven't yet got around to setting up our compost bin. Perhaps we don't have the time. Maybe we're worried about unpleasant smells or pests. Or maybe we just don't realise the huge difference that home composting can make. On average, each of Wales's 3 million residents produces half a ton of domestic waste every year - the majority of which ends up in landfill. We are getting increasingly better at recycling our paper, plastic, glass and aluminium goods, but if we were to start home composting as well, we'd be helping not just our environment but also our gardens.
