The Cliff Hotel & Spa, Gwbert, Cardigan
Cliff HotelPartly rebuilt with new and exciting spa facilities, this renowned hotel boasts one of the most breathtaking marine locations in Wales. It is set in thirty acres of headland and overlooking the beautiful Cardigan Bay, with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. I was looking forward to a relaxing couple of days and this was a good start. It is a few years since I was last here and the revamp has certainly been worth the effort; the place has been transformed.

The Rooms:

We stayed in one of the new executive rooms, which is very tastefully decorated with a king-sized bed, flat screen television with multi-channels, a temperature controlled environment, ironing facilities and the ever welcome tea and coffee making facilities – and what a view.

The Restaurant:
The ever-changing menu is wonderfully balanced and shows flair and imagination, and as we sat there sipping our wine we couldn’t help marvelling at what a romantic setting this was. As if interrupting our thoughts we realised a wedding was taking place in the adjoining ballroom; with this stunning location they would be certain to have the day of their dreams.

The Spa:
The hotel spa is a perfect relaxation zone to unwind, detox and de-stress using marine spa cosmetology to aid the process. The health spa hosts a twenty foot salt water hydro pool, an outdoor pool, steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi, monsoon showers and a state of the art gym. In the salon arena there are four treatment rooms and a rasul chamber to take you away from daily pressures and ease those tensions.

Other Activities:
There is the hotel’s own testing 9 hole golf course set beside Cardigan’s challenging 18 hole course, which makes it a great golfing base. The area is well known for its cliff-top walking together with excellent fishing, sailing and wildlife watching with the dramatic backdrop of the rugged seascape. The warm waters of the Gulf Stream bring regular visits from dolphins, porpoises and seals along with a myriad of sea birds – a wildlife paradise!

Why visit?
As I was relaxing in the spa, my stressful life forgotten, I had a huge list of reasons why I would be back. I felt pampered by the luxurious surroundings, the wonderful food and the pleasant and helpful staff that made my stay memorable.

Spa Breaks:
