On the opening day of the Royal Welsh Show on Monday 18th July Carmarthenshire Cheese Company wins two top champion awards and 6 gold prizes. Taking a total of 16 top awards in the Dairy Produce – Cheese competition achieving the ‘Excellence in Cheese Making Award’ and being selected as the ‘Presidents Preferance’.
Industry experts in the art of judging fine cheese and dairy products assembled at Llanelwedd, Powys on Monday 18th July to sample and draw judgement on products from across Wales and the UK separated into 58 individual classes.
Carmarthenshire Cheese Company, well known for their pure Welsh soft blue and white mould cheese, added to an ever increasing tally of awards gained over their 10 years at the Royal Welsh Show.
Gold awards went to the well – known cheese Boksburg Blue, Organic Preseli Blue, Organic Traditional Welsh Caerffili, Gafr Wen goats cheese and the cheeseboard selection containing Boksburg Blue, Traditional Welsh Caerffili, Gafr Wen and Llangloffan Gwymon.
Four silver awards went to Carmarthenshire Cheese’ Corlan Wen ewes milk cheese, Gafr Las blue goats cheese, Boksburg Blue and to Traditional Welsh Caerffili, whilst a total of seven bronze awards went to a further selection of the Company’s cheeses.
Royal Welsh Show President, Mr W Richard Jones, named Organic Preseli Blue as his ‘Presidents Preference’ selected from the winning cheese in each class.
